Well, that's not entirely true. In fact, it sounds completely weird. My BOOK is for sale - see below for the link. What absolutely electrifying news that is!
To think someone, somewhere may purchase a copy of Chomp! Chomp! Chomp! as a birthday or Christmas gift. Then to imagine the child grabbing my book off his or shelf and carrying it over to his mom or dad so they can read it together before nap time. And finally, to hear the child delightfully say "Again!" after it's finished.
Those are the reasons I'm motivated to create stories. I'm thrilled by the the possibility of bringing joy, connection, fun and smiles to kids and parents. And I'm just so thankful and feel so blessed to have, in my heart, this love for writing.
OK, stop all the violins and choirs. Now, it is time to get busy with the business side. Studying promotion tactics, attempting promotion ideas, willing myself to do promotion stuff I don't want to do. Is it possible? Can I keep my spirit true, which tells me I write for love and fun and smiles, yet ALSO try to be a well selling author?
How about it, FUTURE KEVIN? Did you find success AND stay pure?
I'm rather frightened of the answer. I hope it will always be about joy. I pray I'll always be sipping and not chomping. But I know I'll be constantly aiming for popularity as well.
Only time will tell if the balance can be found...
